InnoGames Game Jam #13: 25 video games in 48 hours

InnoGames Game Jam #13: 25 video games in 48 hours

The second weekend of November saw 113 budding and professional programmers, graphic artists, game and sound designers put in a 48-hour powerhouse creative performance, creating 25 new video games from scratch at the 13th InnoGames Game Jam (IGJAM).

Innovation, collaboration and the joy of experimentation, combined with pizza, sleeping bags and lots of fun: this is what the popular Game Jams from InnoGames, Germany's leading developer and publisher of mobile and browser games, have always stood for.

With 13 editions to date, IGJAM is Germany's largest regularly organized game jam. It attracts participants not only from all over the country, but also from abroad - in keeping with InnoGames' own corporate culture, which could hardly be more international with more than 430 employees from over 40 nations

11 years after IGJAM #1, 113 jammers came together from November 11 to 13 to rapidly develop video games around a specific theme: "Control the Level". The theme offered a framework that still left room for interpretation and led to some satisfyingly diverse results.

While most of the participants gathered at the InnoGames headquarters in Hamburg and rolled out their sleeping bags, 25 jammers made use of the new opportunity to co-develop online.

While the focus was on fun, more competitively-minded jammers didn’t miss out: after the end of the jam, all participants were given the opportunity to play and rate the games created.

The following games won the first three places:

1. Do you even lift, girl? by Team “Die Drei Dudes”. Platform: Windows. You take on the role of elevator staff to bring guests to their destination floors.

2. Tremble Cave by Team “Red Bear Productions”. Platform: Windows. While ghost train guests ride through a cave, you have to control the attractions to scare them. But be careful not to scare them to death!

3. You are Cheese by Team “Cheezcrackerz”. Platforms: Windows, Linux, MacOS. A rolling mouse must be navigated through a maze to its cheese.

An overview of all the games developed duringt IGJAM #13 can be found at https://www.igjam.eu/jams/igjam-13/games/1.

Hendrik Rakemann, Software Developer and Project Manager commented: "The concentrated creativity released by the jammers was, as always, overwhelming. Before you set a theme - in this case "Control the Level" - you think extensively about how it could be interpreted. And yet we were surprised again by the fascinating ideas the participants came up with. Thanks to all who participated, congratulations to the winners and kudos to the project team for the great organization. The next jam can (and will) come!"

Any announcements of future game jams will be communicated through https://www.igjam.eu/ and InnoGames' social media channels.
