InnoGames Hits 130 Million Euros in 2016
Online game publisher celebrates 10-year anniversary and grows 68 percent in mobile
InnoGames, one of the leading providers of online and mobile games, released its financial figures for 2016 today. The company increased its revenue by 25 percent to a new record high of 130 million euros. In the mobile section, InnoGames topped last year’s revenue results by 68 percent and more than half of all new registrations in 2016 came from mobile devices. InnoGames also published a new corporate video today, highlighting the company’s ongoing success story.
InnoGames CEO Hendrik Klindworth explains: “Since we founded the company in 2007, InnoGames was able to profitably grow each and every year. 2016 has been the most successful year in our company’s history, with the results surpassing our own very ambitious goals. As InnoGames turns 10 this year, our focus is on our upcoming mobile-only titles and sustainable growth. All in all, we plan to fill 50 new job positions in our offices in Hamburg and Düsseldorf this year.”
The company has increased the total playing time, revenues and the number of players in existing titles such as Forge of Empires through new game content and in-game events. Last year, players spent about 600 million hours in the six games of the current live portfolio. InnoGames’ first online game Tribal Wars became a strong brand over the years and is now on the market for 14 years. Since the company´s foundation and the professionalization of the business model, the yearly revenue of the classic strategy game is now six times higher than in 2007. The highest-ranking revenue markets for InnoGames in 2016 were the United States, Germany and France.
Last October, Modern Times Group, a leading international digital entertainment group, entered an agreement to acquire 35 percent of InnoGames from its former investor Eight Roads Ventures and the company’s founders. The transaction is based on an enterprise value of 260 million euros for 100 percent of the company. MTG has an option to acquire an additional 16 percent of InnoGames at the same valuation until September 2017.
With over 150 million registered players, InnoGames is one of the world's leading developers and providers of online games. Currently, the company based in Hamburg and Düsseldorf employs over 400 professionals from 30 nations. Besides Tribal Wars and Forge of Empires, InnoGames has scored major success with games such as Elvenar and Grepolis.
