InnoGames increases revenues to EUR 190m in 2019

Online game developer and publisher reports ongoing growth after 13 years on the market

InnoGames, Germany’s leading developer and publisher of mobile and online games, published its performance results for 2019. In line with its 13-year history, InnoGames experienced ongoing growth with the company’s revenues reaching more than EUR 190m. The revenue growth was primarily driven by mobile, with mobile revenues increasing 14 percent and accounting for nearly half of the total share. InnoGames once again managed to prove business efficiency and sustainability with an EBITDA margin of 26 percent.  

Leading strategy game Forge of Empires served as a key contributor to the company’s success with continuing live operations and operational improvements, followed by Elvenar and classics like Tribal Wars, which achieved more than 10 percent growth in 2019. Other milestones included: Forge of Empires reaching the EUR 500m lifetime revenue achievement in June 2019 and InnoGames’ EUR 1bn lifetime revenue milestone (across all games) in November last year.

Live operations and improved game features in the form of enhanced event mechanics across InnoGames’ portfolio are great examples of how the company was able to drive growth. Forge of Empires introduced Guild Battlegrounds at the end of 2019. The new multiplayer feature contributed to strong monthly revenues, with approximately 40 percent participation rates among active players. In addition to the games, operational improvements can be seen across all departments. In 2019, Customer Relationship Management measures experienced an uplift of 58 percent in revenues compared to 2018 due to new and more effective campaigns. Marketing benefited from successful developments in automation across channels like Facebook and Google, while establishing new direct partnerships. 

Consistent with previous years, the leading revenue markets in 2019 were the United States, Germany and France. The United States grew 9 percent in mobile revenues, while Germany and France grew 20 and 21 percent, respectively, further underlining the success of the ongoing operational improvements for InnoGames in 2019.
