InnoGames supports Leaders for Climate Action in engaging 50 million people in climate action

InnoGames, Germany’s leading developer and publisher of mobile and online games, is participating in Time for Climate Action campaign in honor of Earth Day (2021-04-22). Organized by the nonprofit organization Leaders for Climate Action, more than 200 tech companies are aiming to reach more than 50 million people and trigger 1 million meaningful and measurable actions for the planet. The campaign takes place April 19th through April 25th. Among the campaign supporters are companies such as Spotify, Ecosia, Universal Music, Idealo and many more.

Participating companies are both taking climate action themselves and encouraging their customers to follow their lead. InnoGames is a certified carbon neutral company and has consistently reduced its consumption year after year. The Hamburg-based company has reduced its emissions by nearly 40% compared to last year. Remote work has been reflected to the most recent carbon audit, with InnoGames colleagues having transitioned to home office in March 2020. As part of the campaign, InnoGames is creating climate awareness and driving action by promoting climate content and linking to the campaign page on its social media channels. Additionally, a new page on the InnoGames website is dedicated to the topic of sustainability and shares more about what the company is doing. https://innogam.es/uNyhz2

“We believe that sustainability is not only important in how we design our games, but also in how we care for our environment. Over the last several years, we invested heavily to reduce our energy consumption and switch to more environmentally friendly solutions. In the future we will continue to reduce our carbon emissions,” says InnoGames Co-founder and COO Michael Zillmer. “This is also why I am a member of Leaders for Climate Action, to exchange ideas, motivate us to be better and encourage others to get involved. Every bit counts and together we can make a difference.”

Time for Climate Action reinforces how simple, concrete actions – like reducing your own carbon footprint – is linked to controlling climate change and gives people a sense of empowerment. In under 10 minutes, the campaign website enables visitors to take a diverse range of actions, including: changing their household power supply to renewable energy, planting trees while they browse online, and more.

“For many companies in our ecosystem, reducing emissions is simply not enough. If we want to have a significant impact, we need to ask ourselves what else we can do. Activating our customers and partners is one way of doing this,” explains Timo Müller, Co-founder LFCA.
